Cricket and cinema are cherished by Indians, and when these two realms intersect, the enthusiasm among fans is unmistakable. It seems that the wait is now coming to an end.

In a recent interview with NDTV, Rajkummar Rao confirmed that he will portray former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly in the highly awaited biopic. “Now that Dada has already announced it, let me also make it official — yes, I am taking on his role in the biopic,” Rao stated. “I feel nervous… It’s a significant responsibility, but it promises to be a lot of fun,” he continued.

Speculation regarding the casting had been ongoing for some time, with actors such as Ranbir Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana also under consideration. Nevertheless, Ganguly himself appeared to have recently favored Rao, strongly suggesting the actor’s selection.

Just a few days prior, during a conversation with PTI, Ganguly discussed the film’s development. “It’s progressing well. It is set to be released next December. Filming begins in January. The pre-production, story development, and scripting require considerable time. Filming itself doesn’t take as long — it lasts about three months — and then post-production requires additional time,” the former cricketer remarked.
